I love Sci-Fi movies (like Aliens, any Star Trek, The Terminator) and "psychological" movies (like [The] Butterfly Effect, Limitless, Vanilla Sky). So it should be no surprise that The Matrix Trilogy is one of my all-time favorites!
I've been planning (semi-working) on a Ex-Matrix "movie" for C128. Ex-Matrix = Exclusively inside the Matrix. The original Matrix was (almost) completely (95% ?) inside the matrix, but in the 2nd movie (The Matrix Reloaded) only about 75% was inside the matrix, and the 3rd movie (The Matrix Revolutions) was only a mere 50% inside the matrix.
As you might imagine, the 3rd movie I hate the most (but it is still okay compared many other movies). The 1st and 2nd movie are ALMOST a tie... but recently I got to see the 2nd movie (The Matrix Reloaded) and I think it is my favorite... besides the many action scenes (common to all, but very nice in #2) it features a love story that takes place (mostly) in the Matrix.
In other words, #1 and #2 can reasonably called "The Matrix" but #3 should be called "Zion... and oh yeah, the Matrix".
The love story in #2 is really touching to me. Like when Neo asks Trinity not to enter the matrix... she asks why? and he responds (with hesitation) I can't explain (he knows, but wants to spare her horror) and then she looks directly in his eyes and answers "Of course" (unconditional love). Truly moving to me (call me a hopeless romantic)... and then later when Trinity dies but Neo is able to revive her due to his mastery of the matrix... a really touching dialog in that scene too.
Umm... yeah, I've been drinking a bit tonight, but still I think this is a very revolutionary set of movies (hence my desire to make a special video), and would love to hear what you folks think about these movies... (I assume you have seen at least one of them )

Has nobody seen any of these movies? Or perhaps they are all so lame that nobody cares to comment?

It seems like an impossible project, and therefore perfect for C128. Would extra hardware would be needed, sd2iec, easyflash?

@dunno128, You would need a mass-storage device (like sd2iec or cmd-hd) preferably with fast-serial transfer. Without fast-serial, you would need a 16MB REU compatible (1541-Ulitmate or similar). The thing is, I don't think the entire trilogy (even with editing to be EXCLUSIVELY inside the Matrix) would fit in 16MB. Well, guess I could break it up into multiple 16MB chunks. Actually this would be required if you use CMD-HD due to partition size limits. So I guess the only real way to watch it non-stop would be a SD2IEC/MMC (with fast-serial firmware). Even at low frame rate (all that is possible with fast-serial), the current encoder runs about 500K / minute... so I'm thinking something like 200 minutes of video... or about 100 MB total. Not a problem for SD2IEC... I have at least 150 minutes of music videos (around 75MB) that all play fine in a single playlist, so I'm pretty sure this Matrix idea will work. You know, as long as the final video is under 700MB it could go on a CD... so maybe a CMD-HD that has an attached SCSI CD-ROM would work? I've never owned one... they do work fine for reading standard CD-Rs, right? Can CMD-HD with CD drive access files of any size? Or is it limited to 16MB like the HD (that would suck)? The thing that worries me is the CMD-HD seems to be slower than the C1581... based on extremely limited feedback... could be an issue with the actual SCSI hard disk that particular user had. Sorry for going off-topic about my software / theory... I was REALLY just curious about what you folks think about these movies. @vdc8x2, Yes the fight scenes with all the Smiths is a real pleasure to watch. I like the highway chase and fight sequence too ... except for the way the semi-truck crumples like an accordion when it crashes (neat graphics but 100% unrealistic). I'm still not sure which highway scenes were real vehicles and which were CG... it is fantastic cinema! In another life, I'll make a video game based on the highway chase
