I just realized tonight, for the first time (sadly), how easily pets (cats/dogs) learn where home is.
So somebody in my house (no names will be mentioned) got a cat a while back... she has been an indoor pet for the past few months... I call her "scaredy cat" because she is very timid. Only recently was she brave enough to venture outside!
So tonight after she ran outside, I later went outside to smoke and she just ran into the house as soon as I opened the door.
I have had this experience with other pets in the past (cats and dogs), but it wasn't until tonight that I thought about how easily our pets learn where home is! No training is necessary.... they instinctively learn this stuff!
Just one example of God making our lives a little less complex? Don't you wish your own children could learn more things instinctively like this?
I guess this surprised me because there are many other small mammals I see outside on a regular basis (like squirrels and foxes) but I've never had one of them run into my house when I open the front door! (One time an owl flew into our house... but that is another story!)
Anyway, life on planet Earth is pretty interesting...
I'm with you on this one too. I am a dog guy, but I don't hate cats. Our family just got a dog from the local ASPCA. She's a nine month, mostly Whippet who is still learning everything about life. Yesterday was her one week "birthday". She is learning to socialise quite well, with people and other animals. I have had dogs for most of my life, and really enjoy their company. This pup, named "Tink", has already developed a nice, even personality. It's going to be great to watch her grow and learn.
Speaking of Tink, she just showed up asking to go out. I can't refuse her that one. Later....
