Ah, I failed to do that. (And I thought I was being careful during the testing...) This is what happened to the best of my recollection. With SCPU 128 installed, I booted the computer into 20 MHz. mode. SAM 128 was not understandable, because the speech was too fast and too high. Then with the speed switch on top of the SCPU 128, I switched to 1 MHz. and didn't give any SYS command. SAM 128 gave the results I mentioned above. Then with the SCPU 128 still installed but without giving the SYS command, I invoked FAST mode. SAM 128 gave the above mentioned results.

Without the SCPU 128, I booted the C128DCR. I ran the SAM 128 demo and obtained the above results. Without any SYS command, I then gave the FAST command to the C128DCR and re-ran the SAM 128 demo, and so I obtained the above results at that speed.
Just to make sure, I tried the same exact procedures again... without any SYS commands. And I got the same above results.

That would have been great!

As mentioned in my above report, with SCPU 128 at 1 MHz., it was way too slow... but I had just switched from 20 MHz. without invoking the SYS command.

O.K.

Well, as I tested with the SCPU 128 @ 1 MHz and no SYS command over and over again, my club members were getting impatient with SAM 128 reciting that poem in the demo soooo slowly.

Heh, no whistle or ultrasonics. Only higher pitched and faster tempoed... kind of like when a tape recorder has speech played back at too fast a speed on the tape.
