Thanks for sharing, trainmaster. But I have no way to burn EPROMs. I guess I could test it in VICE... but this year the TAX MAN is hounding me (ha, as if I made millions), and I'm currently fighting with the engine in my automobile (which is proof I *don't* have millions), and a lot of other stuff too... so I will not be able to test it anytime soon. But if anybody else wants to test and report, it should be interesting for the community...

You can test it now Hydrophilic, I've added the Basic 8 ROM here.
I have BASIC 8 on ROM. If I try to invoke BASIC 8 via CTRL when powering on or resetting with the bootable BASIC 7.8 disc in the 1571 on the C128, no 128D here, BASIC 7.8 boots and BASIC 8 is not invoked. The disk boot comes before the ROM boot I guess. If I boot BASIC 8 from the ROM with CTRL while powering up or resetting without the boot disk for 7.8 in the drive, it works fine but then when I load 7.8 we all go to MONITOR. So no, BASIC 7.8 does not work with BASIC 8 ROM.

I've tried d BASIC 7.8 with BASIC 8 ROM. Doesn't work. With 7.8 disk in I can't boot BASIC 8 from the int ROM, BASIC 7.8 boots from disk and my CTRL keypress is ignored. If boot disk for 7.8 isn't present during powerup or reset, the CTRL keypress works and 8.0 comes up. If I then try to load and run 7.8 from disk, we go to monitor, which we can exit but then any keypress returns us to monitor.

Thanks trainmaster! I was looking at BASIC8-ROM version, and it seems to only use RAM from about $1adc upwards... in other words, $1300~$1adb seems to be free. So I could crunch BASIC 7.80 to leave that area ($1adc+) unused, then *maybe* BASIC 8 and BASIC 7.80 could work together? They work quite differently and it would be pretty funny to see what happens when both are active at once However it is still wouldn't solve problem of BASIC 7.80 + BASIC 7.1 ... this would require a ROM version of BASIC 7.80 which I really don't know how to make... I guess I could look at the BASIC 8 ROM to see how they moved software into Function ROM... (but not anytime soon).
