I hope I can attend next year. The way you describe it on that thread it sounds like a downgrade?

I am not sure I fully understand the thing about being charged by the hours. What happens to the stuff left Saturday overnight?
The California is a nice hotel. Last July I checked it out and the rooms were a little bit more affordable that the Plaza.
I ended up staying at the Fremont (which also was a little bit more affordable) only because of the walking distance to the convention.
Fremont also offered a discount for breakfast at their restaurant / café.

I am not sure I fully understand the thing about being charged by the hours. What happens to the stuff left Saturday overnight? The California Hotel is stricter than our older venue. This is what Miranda of Catering had to say, "The equipment cannot be left in the room. It must be taken out and reinstalled the next day." I believe that they are doing this so that they are not liable for anything left overnight (this same policy was in effect when we tried to have CommVEx v2 at Nevada Power; though we had used NP for CommVEx v1, they would not allow anything to be left overnight for CommVEx v2, due to liability concerns. That's when CommVEx was then moved to the Plaza.) I know that it is a pain for exhibitors to haul equipment in and out each day. If you wish to exhibit, make sure you have your equipment ready for portability with quick set-up and tear down. I will be staying at the California, and any exhibitor can use my room for overnight storage of hardware/software. I have some time to plan for July 2017. But I am thinking I will bring few things. Maybe my Amiga again and my C128DCR.
Regarding hauling stuff, for me, of course the heavy items are the CRT monitors. But for others, like Sajtron, that brought tons of music related gear maybe is a little more challenging. We are just going to have to help each other.
I probably will stay at the California only for convenience. Also I'll be able to stay all day Sunday next year. Cool.

Oh, the Amiga 1000 is very popular. > Regarding hauling stuff, for me, of course the heavy items are the CRT monitors. I will buy a new cart from Harbor Freight to replace the rickety one I've had for years. You can use my cart (if you don't bring one). > But for others, like Sajtron, that brought tons of music related gear maybe is a little more challenging. Saj had the benefit of working for the Plaza Hotel and being able to store his amps and speakers there. He'll need a bigger cart now. > I probably will stay at the California only for convenience. With its low prices right now, that's where I will be. > Also I'll be able to stay all day Sunday next year. Yay! Truly, Robert Bernardo organizer - Commodore Vegas Expo v13 2017
