Hey guys, the old lady just brought home her childhood C128 and IBM AT from her parents attic. Is there a way that I can write 128 disks with the IBM or are the drives too different? I was able to do this for the Tandy CoCo series, but I know they used identical drives to what PCs used.
Thanks for your help!

No way. You are better off getting a modern PC driver interface like the XU1541 or a zoomfloppy and using a real 1541 etc to write the disks.

Thanks. Does that work for all three modes?

I read that as "write 128 disks" being "create floppies from .d64 images rather than move individual files.
I guess we need clarification.
Do you simply want to move files around or actually transfer whole Commodore disk images onto floppies?

I want to be able to install software to the c128, if I can do that by writing files to a disk then that is how I will do it. Writing images is nice but probably not necessary.

Installing software on a C128 is not something that can be done as the same concept as installing software on a HD of an IBM computer (or PC compatible)
But, from here you can download a set of tools that run under DOS that will allow your C128 to use the HD of the PC. You also need an X-type of cable.
www.64hdd.com/64hdd.html
With that you can run images on D64 (and I believe D71 and D81) saved on your PC from the C128.

Yeah, bad choice of words. I meant load and run programs.

Hi!
Few programs to copy between PC and 1541 exist, but never tested. 1571 MFM disks (CP/M) is possible to read, but really 64HDD is perfect. It can use HDD of PC and its RTC incl. mouse, but one problem there is. Works with D64, D71, D81, D2M and also files on HDD directly, supports partitions and directory tree. For easy use is enough JiffyDOS and I wrote also AceDOS at time when I was without Jiffy... It's 64HDD primary for C64, so access to disk knows not fast serial. I'm using Pro version for C128. I can provide it to you, but I want to help with configuring fastloader - I do it never successfully. I can't share 64HDD Pro +128 with everybody - it's not freeware and I'm awaiting that you will not provide it for others. If you want contact me via PM.
