Getting more difficult to log on

Forgive me. I've been away from the forum for awhile, because it is getting more difficult to log on via dial-up. Sometimes I wait 15 minutes or more for something to happen, and when it doesn't, I give up. Thus, the only other way for me to log on is to get to a high-speed Internet place, like Starbucks, Panera Bread, the local Chinese restaurant, a hotel room with high-speed access, etc..
