I have gotten quite a few people asking me why I am able to fix the MSD SD-1 and MSD SD-2 cap rot boards even after they have spent big money with other people replacing the caps the answer is simple, I do way more than blindly replace the caps and pretend that will fix it this is in no way to be considered a guide or how-to or step by step its just me sharing a little bit of how I work on them and a few picks to hopefully help others fix their own drives I do LOTS of cleaning and scraping , adding flux and solder, removing flux and solder until it looks clean and all the barrels are cleaned out then ohm the traces to find any non obvious cracks in the traces, then start repairing the bad traces or vias or barrels then reassemble and test, if it passes I coat all the repair work so it will not oxidize I figured I would share picks of some of the fun, you may need to zoom in to see some of the trace repairs I just got done with my 2nd board this week and only have a backlog of 5 more to fix ken. msd picks

RAY has told a few people he does NOT want to fix the boards ..... and the boards where sent to me ....... oh yes and I will be supporting CRX Commodore Retro eXpo again and as I said ....the picks are to HELP people wanting to fix the boards on their own , you know actually fix it themselves , you should try it once

Hmm, a very odd reaction. I'd rather promote others than myself, i.e, Ray Carlsen should get the credit. More to tell Ray tomorrow, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group www.dickestel.com/fcug.htm

I on the other hand was posting pictures of damaged boards for others who CAN SOLDER, unlike you who needs someone to fix stuff because you CANT!!!!
