Joy of joys. I have finally got my hands on a C128D and it is great. I had a flat C128 and will be selling soon. The only problem I am having is I can't load any programs from the Commodore 1581 drive. I can get the directory but can't load a program, When I try to load a program It starts but it lockes up any I have to reset the computer. I don't know what the problem is. My layout is the internal 1571,SD2IEC as Drive #9, and a C1581 as drive #10. The drive have jiffydos but the "D" only has the original Kernal IC. If anyone has any ideas of what is going on I would appreciate the help Thanks.

Maybe try disconnecting only the 1581 to the external bus to see if the sd2iec is causing the issue. Maybe the bus connection to the internal '71 is not properly attached... Just a couple guesses to try.

My layout is the internal 1571,SD2IEC as Drive #9, and a C1581 as drive #10. The drive have jiffydos but the "D" only has the original Kernal IC. I find that the SD2IEC is happiest when it is at the end of a serial drive chain, i.e., internal 1571 as 8, 1581 as 9, and SD2IEC as 10. Thanks for youe advice. I changed the layout to 1571 1581 drive #9 and the SD2IEC to #10 and I still get the same outcome. I know that the 1581 works because I connected it to my flat C128 and I could load a program and run it.
