I am in discussions to try to have a run of MEGABIT 128 roms produced, and trying to get an idea of interest... The lower the run count, the more it will cost per unit, so I am trying to see if there is enough interest to make the price per unit low enough to justify the run. Sadly low count runs are very expensive, so if there is little interest, the cost per board is proabably not worth the effort, I believe I am looking at around $45 a board, let alone all the other components for the minimal run size. So, is there any interest in this, and what are folks willing to comfortably pay? I know in the past this thing was selling for about $25 or so, but obviously for a very tiny run the cost of the board alone is more than twice that, so that price point isn't possible. A guy over on Lemon 64 is making some megabit ROMs. He also has an ebay store. Some info: www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54552&highlight=megabit+128+romThis thread is more to the point. Sorry, I couldn't find it when I first did this post: www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55048&highlight=megabit+boards

P.S. For great customer service, after the 5th I time I follow their advice and "try again" and it fails, the software should give a more personal/detailed message like Hmmm... I imagine they don't do that because they can't (or rather don't want to) report to all the users they fú¢kæd. That's the difference between great customer service and lame customer service, IMHO. I am sure not a big fan of Xfinity / Comcast either. We use them right now, because that is all we can get in the aparent complex we just moved to. We have been having a problem loosing the signal altogether. After three calls, it seems they have finally fixed the problem. Maybe it;s a regional problem. We live the greater Washington D.C., Baltimore area. Maybe you should contact a regional manager and complain? I hope you find resolution.

Hi! I was trading on Amibay, also Lemon64 for Commodore 1750 RAM Expansion Unit. I know models 1700 and 1750 as REUs with free EPROM socket to use it as External ROM. Look at photo of PCB: One seller explained me that when he opened REU 1750 there was pinout for EPROM socket but nothing soldered in... So, I'm confused and really disappointed that this way is maye unreal. I own REU 1764 modified to 1,5MB (1536K) RAM expansion, so the place for socket is not free and at first I don't know if REU 1764 targetted to C64 had anytime socket or place for socket. So, what I need? Simple explaining how to use and place own EPROMs as external to work. I don't want always open my 128DCR to extract and insert new EPROM to U36 socket, even I have there Megabit ROM Adapter... My meaning was that it will be solved by exchanging my modified 1,5MB 1764 REU to 512K 1750 REU... Thank you for explaining me whole problem. Miro Just ever so slightly off the original topic - do you know about the 16Mb REU project that has been discussed at www.lemon64.com ? It sounds like Jens may take this project on www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36367&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=16mb+reu&start=200I would sure rather have a big REU, without the added features of several other existing cartridges that are really aimed at the C-64 anyway. This beat me current 2Mb 1764 REU by a long shot. www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36367&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=16mb+reu&start=200

It sounds like there is something wrong with the basic rom and/or kernal rom. Thank you, thats a much better way to put it. Thats what i was kind of thinking, there are carts like fast loaders, 128 expander? I was wondering if one of these carts may need to be in? Was it set up to only run with them? Or final disc? I have a couple of final discs? Original com discs are there can i fix basic? (Ill go get my manual out) Thanks for the help The C-128 (D or not) really depends a lot on the Z-80 cpu in there. If there is something wrong with it, you can have all sorts of strange problems. I found some info on the Z-80, but not as it directly effects the C-128 - maybe you will better luck googling this problem.

I can't believe they neglected the gaming segment of computer users. Maybe not as large as business users, but quite large none the less. I am starting to see why gamers hate 8/8.1, with those damned little "icons" that magically appear on the right hand side of the screen, and screw up the game you are trying to play. That's just one issue. Apparently M$ has asked certain HP users to offer their input as to what they would like in the next OS. I wonder what makes them think HP users will have any real ideas?

Aww... Annapolis? A hop skip and jump from Central PA. Yes it is. We used to drive up to a group in PA, called 8 squared (If my memory is any good) every now & then. Then there were the World of Commodore shows in Philly and valley Forge (King of Prussia) PA. We made all of those shows. Good times

I understand t he REU. I have had 2Mb units in the past. Miro was asking for a 1750 with a ROM socket. Just thought I would ask if the 1764 would work for him. It might be a moot question, because I can't seem to find the darned thing....

@ mirkosoft I think I still have a 1764 that is 512Kb but no other mods. I believe it has a place for a ROM, but no socket yet. Would that help you?

I like 7 OK. I just happen to have Vista on this machine. With a few tweaks, and upgrades it's fine. At least it has a search feature! Between this Windows machine, my Amiga A2000, and my C-128, I get by..... They all get used every day.

This is why I still use a rather tweaked version of Vista on my Intel machine. My grand daughter has 8.1 on her laptop. I'll start using it (as much as I can) and see if I can answer any questions.
