I know there is a command to change the device ID and to save it to flash for the SD2IEC, not sure if that works on that model you have.

Yes, still selling. Need to assemble some! I have piles of boards to assemble but it's summer holiday for the kids so I have been quite busy. Apologies! Check back on the site every now and then

This is amazing. It makes me so sad that these were not done back when the 128 was new. Imagine how much sales could have rocketed with quality conversions like this making use of the VDC.
Oh well, a glimpse into the future that never was I suppose, but a big hearty thank you for this conversion.

How do I load an option rom? I see there are some tick boxes for it but I can't tick them or browse for a file.

It's not a dumb question and it IS possible. However, it's not easy and would need a fairly complex encoder chip.
In fact, it's actually already done for you. there are quite a lot of RGB to Composite solutions around. One being the Amiga A520 modulator. That takes RGBHV and turns it into composite. The big drawback for most of these you have to convert the digital RGBI into analogue RGB first which makes it even more of a complex board. I am actually considering making a dual board like this that would sit in place of the modulator and replace the RF out with S-Video from the VDC. All depends if I can fit it all in that small space.

I think they are just filter/smoothing caps to prevent ripple on the 5v supply. Each chip has one. Unless you short the exposed part (or its shorted already) it shouldn't hurt one bit. A couple of mine are missing a tiny bit of the edge and it all works fine.

Wow. It seems to show the VGA version well.
In vice it's all squashed to the right and goes off the bottom of the screen. On yours it fills the screen correctly! AWESOME!
Is there anyway to make it so I can drag and drop a PRG onto it and have it auto-run?
