Just an update... the gender changer which I ordered on the 17th of December has JUST arrived! Not that Ive had much of a chance to mess around on the 128, but still. Ive just looked and its just a straight through, although it looked like a swapover in the listing.....Sigh! After all that then, still no good. So Ive just ordered a bunch of Arduino wires. Should have done this in the first place! Hopefully, I wont get any 'I told you so!' from Pyrofer!

I think this is the way to go. Im sick of seeing keyboards on Ebay for extortionate prices (e.g. Amiga 3/4000, Acorn Archimedes, etc). Im really surprised no one has thought to 3D print the Amiga keyboards. It seems an A1200 case is of higher importance as per the sucessful kickstarter campaign.
My flat 128 keyboard could do with a nice case. How much are these going to set you back?

Its from ebay. The dimensions are 170x90x45mm so theres enough room for the 9vAC supply too.

Got one of these coming soon. Its a 12/5v PSU that is small enough to fit in the 128DCR case and it has AMPLE power (incase you cant see the detail, its rated: 12v@5A and 5v@10A!) That should be enough to power the DCR and ANY addons (I could probably run a vaccuum cleaner from the 128!). Ive also ordered a 25 pin DB gender changer for the keyboard. That should be here not long afterwards. If that doesnt work, then I have to resort to a rather more messy pin to pin connection as suggested by Pyrofer.

They are quite reasonably priced. Ive just ordered a 12/5v PSU, otherwise I would have got one of these.

interesting , a 128dcr with a missing keyboard.... while you are trying to hunt down the proper keyboard/housing ....you can use any old 128 keyboard out of a flat 128 you just need to make a extremely simple db25-db25 cable and plug the keyboard into the cable and plug the cable into the 128dcr it will be ugly but it will get you up and running I make the cables all the time for people with 128dcrs missing the keyboard The cable may be 'simple', but it cannot be simply purchased... Apparently, on ebay, a 'straight through' cable routes pin 1 to pin 1....pin 25 to pin 25! These cables seem to be abundant on ebay but they dont work for this. You need a 'proper' straight through (i.e. pin 1 to pin 13, etc) otherwise you get jumbled up letters as the matrix selection is wrong. Either that, or get 2 of these cables and a gender changer to swap the pins back again! If I dont get hold of a 128D keyboard soon, I will have to resort to this.

Aww man. I have yet to find one person who has actually run it in VGA apart from me I am starting to wonder if writing games for VGA out of the (hardly used) 80 col output of a 30 year old computer that plays second fiddle to the 64 (and is mostly used in 64 mode) is going to give me the biggest target audience.... I think the whole point of writing a game for something like the C128s VDC is because its a fairly uncommon game system. Pyrofer is going to be king of the hill for a while... This game is the PERFECT fit for a non bitmasking character block based video chip like the 8568. Unless someone is going to devote some serious time and effort to unravel the mysterious internal timings with a 'scope, some serious cycle timing calculations and reverse engineering, then Im pretty confident that this will be the best C128 VDC game for a while.

Ok, so Ive rummaged about in my cable collection and I dont seem to have any more 25 to 25 pin leads. Bah! Will have to actually buy something. On top of that, a search on ebay only comes up with the confusingly titled 25 pin straight cables (which technically, I believe are crossed! How is pin 1 to 1, pin 2 to 2, etc STRAIGHT? lol). The only thing I can find suitable is a gender changer, but the keyboard loom is not long enough for just that. Wish I didnt have to sell those 3 128DCR's a few months back!

Almost there... The end of the Flat 128 keyboard loom pins are spaced like the din plug and I happened to have a 25 pin din male to male connector in a bag on the floor. Could it be that easy??! No! That would be to easy! lol The cable I have here is a pin swap. I believe I need a 'straight through' wired cable. Oh well, when I get time, its back down to fishing around in the boxes of plentiful cables.
