Heh, yeah, getting repeatedly complained at is a strong incentive towards brevity! Um, at least your meaning comes through clearly? (*wince*)
Is the thing with the consolidated drive controller really the only actual design change? I had always picked up a vague impression there was more to it than that, though of course details are rarely alluded to.

well we have many differences lets take the v6 128 vs the v7 128 chips were added to the v7 board to fix issues that the v6 board had then we have the last of the batch 128 bards with reduced chip count , but to be fair about it, not many of the reduced chip count 128`s are around and just about all of them are in the hands of collectors, I do not have 1 I cant afford what they are going for
just a quick off the top of my head differences a few major differences between the 128/128D and the 128DCR are the 128/128D has 2 IC`s for the 64 and 128 kernals, the 128DCR has 1 for both 64/128 the 128/128D has the cassette port on the back , the 128DCR has it on the side next to the joysticks the 128 power supply is 5v/9v the 128 DCR power supply has 5v/9v/12v most all the 128`s still have their keyboard , most of the 128D 128DCR units have missing keyboards we can find many more differences but I have not had coffee yet ...lol

...most of the 128D 128DCR units have missing keyboards That is a generalization. In the 30 years that I've seen C128DCR's, all of them have had their keyboards, except for one that I picked up from a former user two years ago. All the C128DCR's that we have in storage have their keyboards. The C128DCR's that we raffle at the Commodore Vegas Expo have their keyboards. My C128DCR has giving some problems. First the screen would not show in the 80C, then intermittently the C1571 would not read the diskettes, now at turn on the screen will show the green banner but not the "ready" prompt and I have to reset the drive for the "ready". If you bring your C128DCR to the May SCCAN meeting, I can give it to Ray Carlsen for repair when I see him in late June/early July. Then I can pick up the repaired machine at Thanksgiving when I see him again. Or if you prefer, you can give me the machine at CommVEx, and then I can give it to Ray during Thanksgiving. Sorry I did not post updates on this. The issue somehow resolved itself. I asked around at one of the meeting some time ago (maybe was in November 2014) . What I did was to pull out the drive, did not really see anything wrong with it, and put it back in. I had some difficulties remembering the order of the pins. c-128.freeforums.net/thread/114/help-pin-128d-disk-drive
But after that has been working OK. To the 128DCR I further added speakers, the RTC, a keyboard cover, and a 1581 external drive, and the GEOS chip . Then for a while I started spending more time tinkering with the A1000.
For the 128DCR I am now looking for a good monitor. The plastic frame of my 1084S is broken and it looks as if the screen may just fall out. After last year CommVEx I am afraid of moving it for that reason.
In any case thank you for the offer.

Here is the list of differences that Mirkosoft has listed in his site.
Differences between C128D and C128DCR: - D was never sold in USA - CR has metal case - CR has not cooling fan, although there is a place to mount one - CR has new VDC chip 8568 instead 8563 - CR has 64kB VideoRAM for VDC instead 16kB
