I am in discussions to try to have a run of MEGABIT 128 roms produced, and trying to get an idea of interest... The lower the run count, the more it will cost per unit, so I am trying to see if there is enough interest to make the price per unit low enough to justify the run.
Sadly low count runs are very expensive, so if there is little interest, the cost per board is proabably not worth the effort, I believe I am looking at around $45 a board, let alone all the other components for the minimal run size.
So, is there any interest in this, and what are folks willing to comfortably pay? I know in the past this thing was selling for about $25 or so, but obviously for a very tiny run the cost of the board alone is more than twice that, so that price point isn't possible.

Well, I’m interested IN THEORY, but I really can’t justify paying much more than the old $25 price. (Our car has had its deferred maintenance come home to roost, you see.) How many boards would you need to have made to allow that price?

For the record: I love my megabit. It's one of the "must haves" and most used piece-of-kit for the 128 that I've ever had the pleasure of buying. Well worth the costs.

I agree with Gordon; the old $25 price was much better. In fact, for a run of 50 Sound Ultimate Xpander 6400's with cartridge case, the cost was $25 (hey, they are being sold at cost!). And you got a lot more in the way of electronics with the SUX 6400. FCUG celebrating 33 years, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group www.dickestel.com/fcug.htm

A guy over on Lemon 64 is making some megabit ROMs. He also has an ebay store. Some info: www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54552&highlight=megabit+128+romThis thread is more to the point. Sorry, I couldn't find it when I first did this post: www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55048&highlight=megabit+boards

If you have the boards made through Seeed Studio or dirtypcbs.com, you can save a LOT of money.

After some consideration, (I actually participated in that thread) I decided that I am really only interested in a GEOS 2.0 ROM (which CBMGUY is graciously sending to me). As such, for now, my interest in the Megabit is not very high.

I have remade the megabit board and I made it extremely small and low profile it is no bigger than a 32 pin socket and fits in the 128 under the metal shield with no issues I sell them on ebay but call it the M5 board ken.

Hi, ken. Always love to hear about new resources for Commodore gear. I tried searching on eBay for "C128 M5" but the first 25 (or 50)... I don't know... (a lot!!) of irrelevant listings, I gave up. Is there something else I should use in my eBay query? Like "socket" or "chip" or "MegaBit" ?? Also, I think it is cool that you made "low-profile" board that allows easy replacement of the metal shield
