Schematics with this date including MC-6845 controller - its pin compatible to 8563, but it's not more than monochrome text. We found in searhing for resources more schematics and also - maybe you never heard about C64+ - Commodore 64 with built-in 80 column video. Sad is that datasheet was never found. But we do all possible.

How much are you thinking for the VDC cards? Will you be including the chips? Do you have a timescale? Taking pre-orders?

For now it's in design stage, current plan 12 cards, MOS 8563 is not easy to find, but these 12 will include. Really for now can be interesant how many people want to get it, anything poll like can be useful. In my eyes: If it has to be created only for me, it's useless 'cause no one can apply my code and use my config. First milestone: Get working prototype If will be card in future on demand, we will need to find manufacturer and seller. I want for me personally 3 cards, and 2 of them to send to friends for testing and bug finding to create final product. These friends are very known on our scene, but now they knows nothing about. So, please, wait to report any results. Or, this weekend I create blog with possible comments and poll. I'm task overdosed, sadly last days hadn't time for The Ace. Miro

Miro, If you are going in this direction, and seeing as you mentioned the 6545 VDC, then why don't you use the setup described here: www.6502.org/users/sjgray/projects/colourpet/This circuit can output 256 colours in rgb analogue or 16 background AND 16 foreground colours in rgbi format. Most of the work is done for you here. And on top of that, there are probably more 6545 or compatible derivatives of than the 8563.

Ok, that's interesant. I know ColourPET exist, not more. In design stage we can change near all. Please post the same on blog, there it will be visible for us both and please all: Whole forum wishes, suggestions post there, we both see us and blog will be daily updated. Also there are todays news. I visited link, but allow 320x200 bitmap in 16 fore and 16 background colors, maybe 256 colors is less what offers VIC2E. If I skipped any part correct me. I mean decision for MOS 8563 is better, or? Miro

On the same page is both the analogue and digital rgb versions. There are also circuit diagrams. Plus 6545 is less buggy than 8563. Its up to you, but I would look into this before possibly re-inventing the wheel again.

I understand, I need not to create new wheel, schematics always helps. We decided for 8563 after selection lot of controllers and were also better, but price of final product it could throw to scrap. In case of buggy 8563 is best choice in price vs possibilities. If you look to blog, you'll see that it's not videocard only... ColourPET+G is text based bitmap, it has features which are interesant, but I mean that 8563 is better. Miro

OK, if you are happy with designing a new circuit around the 8563 then go for it. I don't know that there's as many around as the 6545, that's all. For example, 6545 chips are available here: www.unicornelectronics.com/IC/6500.htmlNow, where are 8563 chips going to come from?! :-)

This I know, and it's dark side of project. We (no me personally only) need st. constructive - or have we stop it? We can, and no more than 12 cards will exist. When I was creating this thread I meant that it will be nice to tell our community VDC-E design. So, if we have to stop it, get more voices for stop and I pass away. Here my feelings telling me words of one man: It's better to burn out than to fade away. I'm too moody person and today is like Friday 13th. Miro
