It won't be faster than running it in fast mode in basic on the 128. You just flash the screen every now and then to show progress. I think you don't understand the point of my suggestion. If you go to fast mode in basic then you're forced to go to 80 column mode and this will result is a display resolution of 640x200 which takes a lot more time to draw. If you go to 40 column (slow mode) but use pokes to force the display off and enable 2MHz mode then the C128 "thinks" it is in slow mode but really use a display resolution of 320x200 and performs the job twice as fast. See my example here: c-128.freeforums.net/thread/173/real-speed-vice-fun?page=3This example disables the display and turns on the 2MHz mode in the C64 mode. Added edit: If you do the poking trick mentioned above, the resulting speed is more than double because when the C128 is in normal 40 column display mode, the CPU runs at about 1MHz but the VIC-IIe has to steal CPU cycles for the display so the resulting speed is less than 1MHz. If you turn off the display and set the CPU to 2MHz, the increase in speed is actually about 2.22 times.

"VIC-IIe at 2MHz = 06:10:56* - really similar to VDC at 2MHz"Even faster than I anticipated!

Yes, I have SCPU128. All tested machines, modes etc. you can find on cbmandelbrot.blogspot.sk/I tested it also with SCPU. I'll test also your programs, then reply and if you allow me, wil publish on Mandelbrot blog. Miro
