Hi all,
I have always been a C64 fan but recently I got a C128D because it seemed a good option to declutter my Desk and get all the C128 pluses. Back in the 80's I had a commodore 128 friend,we exchanged soft that he played in GO64 mode without apparently any issue.
One of my fav games is Frantic Freddie and i't been the first one I wanted to try, the music is superb, but to my surprise in GO64 mode Frantic Freddie loads but no music is played. I just checked that VICE for Mac doesn't play Frantic Freddie sound when emulating a 128 in 64 mode. Is this final or Is there anything that could be done to go around this issue ? Why is this happening ?
kind regards,
Ruben

If it is a C128DCR, the only thing that I can think of is that Frantic Freddie wants to output its sound through a 6581 SID chip, not through the 8580 SID in the C128DCR. Writing from Melbourne, Australia, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group www.dickestel.com/fcug.htm

Most C64c are also equipped with 8580 and they don't suffer this problem. The registers on both the 6581 and 8580 have the same function. Only the filters sound somewhat different.

Like almost all the ones I have in storage, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group www.dickestel.com/fcug.htmP.S. I should get those C64C's repaired. They have fried 6581's. (Thank goodness they don't need the hard-to-find 8580's.)
