A new Spectrum conversion was released today for the C128 in VIC or VDC mode. It is running at about the same speed as the Spectrum version. It also supports SuperCPU! csdb.dk/release/?id=155046Edited: Fixed link.

I ran it on the C128 yesterday and it was a bit sluggish, but I haven't tried it on the SuperCPU yet. I'll to that tonight. I find the Spectrum controls horrible. Someone really needs to fix proper direction controls, if not done already.

no no, I ran it on my 128 in Fast mode and i thought it was quit refreshing! But yes, the controls are awkward, other than that I'm thrilled and I think this opens up a new world of games for VDC!

I tested VIC2E and VDC versions with SCPU128 - also C64 version in C64 mode - not good results VDC and VIC2E grraphics are corrupted at 20MHz, but C64 version has not problem.

Hi mirkosoft,
C128 with SuperCpu was one configuration I couldn't test as I don't own a SuperCpu and AFAIK Vice128 doesn't emulate it.
It "should" work in theory but it's something I would like to fix for future games so please could you supply a bit more detail or post up a screen grab, thank you.
Regarding the controls, I did offer both turn & walk and directional controls for both keyboard & joystick options, which were not all available in the original game. Other than offer re-definable keyboard options I'm not sure what more can be done.
Regarding the speed of the game I'm not sure what more we can do. The C128 versions run at around the same speed as the Spectrum version, the Amstrad and MSX versions are all slower. The original Z80 code was already heavily optimized and was pushing the Z80 machines very hard. As a result the 6502 conversion took a huge amount of work to get it up to speed, which was achieved.

Oh, so the controls were fixed already, just not the default. Sorry for whining about it. Yeah, the speed is sluggish in the spectrum as well. I agree that there's not much to do, but the SuperCPU support is a much welcome feature!

No problem at all. Yes you can cycle thru the different control options by pressing the 2 key on the menu screen. Turn & Walk and Directional controls are available for both Keyboard & Joystick.
I'm a bit disappointed that it seems that the C128 SuperCpu doesn't work correctly as I spent a lot of time testing and trying to get everything to work and support as much different hardware as possible.
I will fix it, as things stand my best guess is that the SuperCpu doesn't like the 8502 running at 2Mhz. I hope so, as that's easy to fix!
Regards.

Ok, I can help with support for SCPU. Also it needs to say - problem looks not in 2MHz. Please let me know what you need to know I'll post it. Please wait this weekend 'cause today I'm going away, will be back at Sunday evening. Miro
