Yeah, I have the 3.1a firmware flashed but it isn't helping. I was reading the posts on the 1541Ultimate forum. Important to make sure is that the there is one 3.1a version that has fixes for the C128. Another 3.1a version is still unmodified.
But I am curious to know what program / application / game exactly are you trying to run that does not work for you.
This week-end also I may try to upgrade to V3.1a and check if I see a difference.
P.S. - If I understood correctly the file name with the C128 fixes is called 1541u2_3.1a_498._v1., and as CBMGUY indicated is not on the 1541Ultimate web site but on github. (?)

So I updated my 1541U-II. First it needed to go to version 3.0 and then to the most recent 3.1a (0D). As before I am able to run GEOS in both 40c and 80c.
So far I cannot tell what are the improvements and fixes, beside that the menus look a little different.
In the last picture I am showing my settings. Also I have disabled drive A (8) and enabled drive B (9).

Yeah, I have the 3.1a firmware flashed but it isn't helping. I have to try what nonefornow has as his settings tomorrow. Curt This web page did solve the problem on my PAL C128 DCR: devdef.blogspot.co.at/2014/10/1541-ultimate-ii-guide-1-hardware.html"... You may also have problems when loading or mounting disks. This often happens because of a timing setting in the UII. There are two settings in the ‘C64 and cartridge settings’ menu that might need adjusting. I use 100ns for the setting ‘CPU Addr valid after PHI2’, and ‘PHI2 edge recovery’ is set to Enabled..."

Tried now's settings but no go ... and on the 128 end (80 column) the RAM isn't recognized after I set it up in 40 column mode and switched.
Any suggestion?
Curt

I know this might be a dumb question, but do you have the iec cable plugged into the back of the 128d.

Yes sir. Sure do, and don't worry ... there are no stupid questions if this can help me fix this. Lol
