Usually I post whatever I've had repaired by Ray Carlsen at the Retro-Link forum - retro-link.com/smf/index.php?topic=985.0 However, this time I thought I would give Ray a shout-out from this forum for the great repair work he did this time.
Back in October, I gave Ray a large load of equipment for repair - 7 C64's, 4 C128's, 1 1541 disk drive, and 2 C128 power supplies. Though he was reluctant to tackle such a large job in the already winter-like conditions of Washington state (his workshop is unheated), he went through all of the equipment and had them ready for me when I passed by his house on Dec. 14. Out of the 7 C64's, 5 were repairable, and all the others were repaired.
Specifically, here are the C128's he repaired, with his notes --
C128 SN# CA131584`, case yellowed, F1 key sticky, side switch (JD?), Servant ROM @ U36
Observed: Mobo very intermittent
Repairs: Board swapped - ok
NC [no charge]
C128 SN# RP1002488, case yellowed, dirty
Observed: Bad pwr switch
Repairs: Replaced switch, cleaned ports, diag. cart - ok
$20
C128 SN# CA1306141, good case, F1 & F3 & F7 & k sticky
Observed: Bad key plungers
Repairs: Replaced & cleaned keyboard - diag. cart - ok
$20
C128 SN CA1662162, good case, was in bubble wrap, missing case screws
Observed: C= key - bad keyboard, boots in all modes
Repairs: Repaired keyboard, diag. cart - ok
$20
I did not list the C64's; those required far more repairs and thus cost more money to fix.
Merry Christmas!
