Christmas!
Merry Christmas!!!!
What POWER is in those two words. After all, this is the anniversary of the
year of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Most of us are already accustomed to the traditional Nativity scenes that are
sold every year at Walmart and other stores at Christmastime. If you look real
close, everything is nice and shiny. Mary's cloak in a bright blue and her
facial skin given a vivid clarity. Joseph in a brown garment, as if somehow his
role in things were less important. The Baby Jesus, whose face glows according
to how much cash you've laid out.
Look a little closer.
Mary, for instance- She may seem nice and clean, holy perhaps in those
Nativity Scenes but hey, ask yourself... was her robe really that nice and
blue when she arrived at Bethlehem alonside her husband and baby Jesus? It
probably stank with the sweat of not only herself, but the mule she rode on.
She and Joseph had undergone an unwelcome journey to Bethlehem for the
Roman Census and to pay taxes. She was pregnant, the seed having come from the Holy
of Holys. She is the only woman to give birth to God HimSelf.
At Joseph
Joseph usually wears brown in any common Nativity scene. Some say that brown is
the color of anonymity. In reality, Joseph had a very important job.
But imagine that YOU are the father of this child, who is destined to save the
entire human race. I don't know about YOU, but this would amp my adrenaline
to protect Him! Joseph PROTECTED his wife and in so doing he fulfilled a very
important role in history. In any case he's worth a second look besides his
usual brown cloak.
If this Christmas is to be merry, than let us celebrate because of the blood
that was shed for us.
"You are free to do good things. I have paid the price for you. Seek Me,
while I may still be found".
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
