I just realized that there might have been be a Drean C128 manufactured back in the days in Argentina. I found some references to such a machine in a couple of places on the web and I feel it's going to be tricky to do game development testing on that machine. Does anyone of you own such a machine?

Does anyone of you own such a machine? Heh, I've been looking for a Drean C128 off-and-on for some time. It would match up with my Drean C64C.

Here's a site that shows all the Drean models (for the curious), C128 at the bottom:

Why? The specs are no different from those of the flat '128 that we've come to know and somewhat love.
I don't see the "dream" aspects.

The clock frequency is close to an NTSC machine but has 312 lines like PAL instead of 262/263 like NTSC. To cope with this it has 65 cycles per line, unlike PAL that has 63. Any synchronization with the raster or stable sample playback for example will need to have specific implementations for the Drean machine.

We all know about the 65/312 VIC-II DREAN anomaly ..... but from what we recall about DREAN, The Drean C128 does NOT have 65/312 VIC-IIe. Commodore never made such a VIC-IIe. ..... VIC-II and VIC-IIe are not drop in replacements for each other, I hope we all appreciate that. Unless someone has outstanding evidence to the contrary, there is no DREAN VIC-IIe. .. DREAN C128's are not special because they have "DREAN" VIC-IIe. =) Cheers!

How did they solve PAL-N then?

How does one PAL-N without PAL-N ? .. .. with MIGHTY NTSC, of course ! Actually, there are claims of PAL-N VIC-IIe .. the "MOS Technology 8569", on wikipedia and for many years on usenet .. but no one to my knowledge has demonstrated such a thing exists in a DREAN C128. The unicycle c64 guy (rq) is from Argentina, and he claims he never saw PAL-N on it. A few other sceners from Argentina/Brazil have made similar comments. Comments (for years) across the net say that the few Drean C128s made are just NTSC C128 with different labeling. The only differences :: PSU, box, manuals, and the case label.
