well depending if you are 16K or 64K bound. The above 16K bound version runs 128x64 16 colour mode. With 64K you can get 160x100 16 colour 120x200 16 colour so at 160 the pixel width is the same as the VIC-II(e)'s multi colour mode but you nominally lose half the height. A Demo of it with software sprites can be seen here csdb.dk/release/?id=197895

Wow, the software-sprites look great.
But 160 pixel width with flexible colors would just be normal bitmap-mode (640 pixel wide) with 2 colors per char-block (char height of 2) where each color-pixel is 4 pixels wide. There was a Koala-picture converter for that mode in an old german "128er"-special issue (issue 76 page 39).
Or are you using text-mode and play around with reg 22?

The game and demo looks great! I had a few games of Hose it and really enjoyed trying out a few of the levels. Looking forward to playing some of the later levels. Well done on creating these using the VDC.

reg22 would be nice, I'm working on a new mode I call GameBoy which will hopefully give me 4 colours well 2 colours and 2 extra shades but be a lot faster to work with.
You can't reg22 the bitmap because you need attributes to get to 16 colours. And if you have attributes enabled you are limited to 82 chars which then only gets you 82 pixels and half the screen. You might as just use text mode and a solid char in 80 col mode.

I'm getting a report of joystick directions auto repeating. Right and up just keep firing. Anybody else seeing this happen?
