I’m very happy with mine. My mother volunteered to make a cover cover of an old bed sheet. It wraps tightly over the plastic so I get the sturdy protection as well as a better (black) look.

To get the address of <here> do a JSR to the next instruction and pull the return address from the stack (it is offset 1 byte).

Store the address in zero page and jump indirect with
JMP (zpaddr)
Or modify the jump instruction using self modifying code.

This should be pretty straight forward to do, but impossible to say what the problem is without the code. You should call setbnk, setnam, setlfs and open, then chkin on the file handle and chrin until the end of the file checked with status. Then close.
