You all might think I'm crazy, but over the last three days I entered "The Animals' Show". What an endeavor! I think the girls will really like it thought. Tomorrow,I will take it much easier and input "Moon Rescue" from the same issue of Compute Gazette.

Do you have any screen shots? I am curious about this program myself.

Ok, finally figured it out by loading it in an emulator, they wanted two dashes using the commodore key.

I am doing a type in game for my daughter called "The Animals' Show" from Issue #42 of Compute's Gazette. I have gone over three lines in particular over and over and the checksums just don't match up! Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? Images of my screen and original code below Link to the issue below that. Also, here is code pulled from a .PRG, it looks like its in the four {D} characters at the end (which also don't match up to what appears to be five characters in the text. 560 CHAR,25,14,"{yellow}wxyz{down}{left}{left}{left}{left}2345{down}{left}{left}{left}{left}{DB}{DC}{DC}{DD}" Issue #42

Thanks! I typed in a few programs over thr weekend: Sleuth, Draw128, Musical Keyboard, and Obstacle 128 are the ones I can think of off the too of my head. Moon Rescue is next on my list, and I want to get the Animals' Show done before the weekend for the kids to try

Does anyone else have fond memories of typing in games for Compute! or various other sources? Until I figure how a hardware solution, I am going to be doing these type in programs. The first one I did was, of course, the Automatic Proof Reader. Once I had it up and running it would lock up after it computed the first checksum-- turned out I had skipped a few bits in about line 230 or so. After getting that up I am now working on Space Dodger. I know, I know-- its available for download. But currently I have no other way to get it to my c128 so I am doing it by hand.
I still find some joy in this. I was always into computers, but when I was a senior in highschool my dad was really into the c64 for some reason (he never cared before) and we would tag team typing in programs and debugging. One of my favourite memories.
Can anyone think of any other good games that use the "New" Automatic Proof Reader checksums?

I am really thinking the SD drive will be the way to go for me, just curious how others have fared with it. In the meantime I have done typed in the Automatic Proof Reader and am working on my first type in program.
