Oh yeah, the money must be in the colors. And the loads of printer drivers. This is a non-booting 1571 disk. spectrum128.d71 (342.83 KB)

I was thinking of posting Spectrum 128, the other paint program written with Basic 8. Actually I guess there is a third, iPaint by Rick Kane, but I don't have it and I seem to remember someone saying (fairly recently) he is still selling it. Spectrum has a multicolor mode that can use 128 colors or so via dithering and I think 4 colors in a text block and can be used in interlaced mode or regular. I do not have the documentation any more, it was minimal anyway.

Glad to help it I can. I felt bad not actually supplying a link but the actual disk, but I had never seen it anywhere but Landover BBS so in spite of VDC 8x2's request for a link I just put it up without asking. I think Lance actually was the one who posted it originally. I know other guys here must have lots of interesting stuff on their hard drives or waiting to be d64'd so I hesitate to post something like that.

Back atcha! Fireworks on the cobblestone patio close enough to infuse the night with adrenalin, played old songs with old friends, (our 83 year old bass player was sporting dreads), all the women were beautiful, the temperature and humidity were perfect which never happens in the Susquehanna valley and plenty of Lord Chesterfield Ale to cover up the rough spots. One of the better fourths for sure.

The background and foreground colors are really similar for some reason using Vice128. It seems to start up in black on dark gray.On the real thing I have no problem.

Now I remember. The Kaypro-II. A portahle cp/m machine. I was able to use the disks from it on the C128. Juggler was good for using the Osborne format that gave the most disk space. I think Wordstar even worked on the 128 but in monochrome.

Maybe a links board. For instance, I think Jim Herne's C128 CP/M material and 1571 discussions might be handy here. I found his site indispensible in the early 90s when I was still interested in all things disk and data related. I remember Hydrophilic discussing some of the features of Juggler which I think comes from Herne originally. www.herne.com/cpm.htm

I started out using a TRS-80 with a cup to connect at 300 baud if lucky and post local sports stories, but then my brother got the bug to program and started using Atari and C64. I liked the C64 and got one in '89, a C128 and Plus/4 in '91. I like to keep up to date with developments on my favorites, sadly my Plus/4 has died but I still have the C128 with a 1571, 1541-II, and 1764 and Magnavox Professional monitor ready at all times. Although I have little to offer at present programming wise and was never a hardware guy, I am glad to find myself here among the usual suspects from the late lamented Landover BBS.

Wow! Bolt from the blue! I need to thank you for all this work you've been doing, the CBM BASIC REFERENCE and now this, among others. A little sleep and in the morning fire up the XE1541. Thanks, Hydrophilic!
