I found a different kernal/basic rom at the U32 location in my C128. It is labeled "1988 SEW 128 PLUS". It has a wire going to the bottom of the keyboard. The alt-key seems to toggle fast mode and the function keys have new functions like @$, load, save, list, run, sys48979 and sys62368. Does anyone know what this is?

Does anyone know what this is? Hmm, never heard of it. Can you dump the contents of ROM? Is that the flat C128 you picked up from me? Yes, it is. Can you dump the contents of ROM? Yes, I can do that on Wednesday when I get home from Stockholm.

Is that the flat C128 you picked up from me? Yes, it is. If I remember correctly, that flat C128 originally came from a retired teacher in Stockton, California. The ROM contains the normal basic+kernal as well. That is activated if the 80-col button is down.

I have now disassembled the code for the mysterious sys-addresses. SYS48979 leads to code that performs "old", that is the opposite of "new". SYS62368 leads to more mysterious code that looks for the text "MON" at 256 byte aligned blocks from $0800 to $ff00. If the text is found, the ROM jumps to the address fetched right after the text. There is no such text in the ROM so it is only useful together with another hardware or software expansion. I don't know which one.
