HELP! My old 128D hasn't worked in years. The last couple of times I switched it on (about 20 years ago) it wouldn't even boot. The drive led would just light up for two seconds and that would be it. Same behavior with every reset, I just gave up on it at some point. I switched it on again tonight for old times' sake, and to my astonishment I saw the drive going through a full startup sequence. I connected it to my plasma TV and there it was - the 128 startup screen, cursor ready and blinking. I fiddled with the RCA connections for a moment and suddenly the picture was gone. Tried resetting, and it went back to the old two second death routine... I opened it up, tried cleaning some of the dust that had gathered inside - nothing. It just won't start again... Any ideas how I can get it to work again will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I never owned 128D, so this could be wrong... but it sounds like the CPU/RAM/Vchip are working (from your description). Perhaps you can open the case and disconnect the disk drive internal cables? This is really just a trouble-shooting method = isolate the problem... it won't fix the problem, but maybe without the internal drive connected you can reliably use the PC? Let us know what happens...
