The Commodore 8-bit series of computers were relatively unknown to most people back in the early 1980's, in fact I know many who never bothered to buy one (a computer) until just the last 5 years! Back in the 1980s, people were not as concerned with the capabilities of a computer as they were having one at all, and seeing that it worked with their own eyes. THAT was the miracle, then... that there even WAS a computer.

What an interesting post. I can only imagine that ADULTS and PROFESSIONALS didn't know about Commodore in the 1980's, but virtually everybody at my middle school and high school knew about them; heck most of the kids I knew back then also owned one. Of course I was living in a rural community at the time... it sure is possible those city slickers only knew about Apple/Atari/Tandy home computers Anyway, I was really curious to hear your SID tunes, but every link I clicked upon gave me an ACCESS DENIED error message, even though Google seemed to recognize me. I assume you didn't personally block me, so there is something wrong if true.

Don't listen if you don't want a headache

Are you saying that EVERYONE had a C-64 in the eighties, because if you are I can assure you that this was not the case- and yes, while many adults and profis used them, the entire idea of a computer hobby was generally unknown to the masses of consumers at that time. Remember, I referred to the early eighties, when if you even knew what a computer was, you were a genius. I remember my first days with a C64, I think I even invented some new German curse-words.

Hello wsoft,
I was saying most (50%+) of the kids in high school knew about Commodore computers (in my area), and almost all of my friends (85%+) also owned one version or another. I was living in a rural community then, so maybe in the big cities these would be less popular (presumably Apple/IBM/Tandy would be more popular?)
More importantly, your links now work! The first one, Time, sounds like a great SID tune. It would fit well as either opening theme or background music in many Commie games. I plan to download and listen to them each as I aimlessly browse the web this week. Thanks for sharing!!

Sorry I had to cut the links off but it happens when you delete your google account. Just like I did Twitter and Facebook, and all other big-tech social media stuff. Times are changing, you know. I have found that most of my stuff is out there on the web though, and more than I'd liked to have had published. Google "Gerpsnot". It's all on HVSC, as well. My stuff is nothing compared to composers like Thomas Detert - Listen to "Clystron" (tune #2). That's my all time favorite SID.
