If you are missing ROMs, the source code archive has most of them.

I run Linux Mint. I installed it with apt-get/package manager and placed the ROMs in ~/.vice/C64/ (basic, kernal, chargen, d1541II for example) or ~/.vice/C128/ for 128 ROMs. If ROMs are missing you will get a message about that if you start it from command line.

Hurrah! Another one that is compatible. I would go as far as saying that a SuperCPU is a requirement. The game is hardly playable without I think.

I found Wheels to be much, much better; the GEOS apps under Wheels actually became easy to use. Interesting. I have to attempt to install Wheels later on then.

Back in the day, the killer app for the SuperCPU was GEOS. Definitely. I don't think it is enough today though. There needs to be games but I don't think it is likely to happen. It is basically the C128 all over again. Who will invest in building something for an even smaller user base when it is already small for the C64? As a side note, I tried to get GEOS running when I bought my RAMLink a couple of years ago and the three drive limit feels very limiting. Especially since the REU is treated like a drive as well. I gave up working with it. If it had been more flexible with the drives it would be a big improvement for me.

Hmm, I tried it yesterday and didn't notice a significant speedup on C128. I didn't have two games running for comparison so I may be mistaken. I may connect the SuperCPU tonight and try that one.

I'm using the µIEC. I like it and have been using it mostly to load one-file programs like tools and games for Vic20 and +4. It isn't working well enough for modern games and demos for C64 and 128. I also have a 1541 Ultimate II but I rarely use it since the memory card swapping is too cumbersome. I mostly transfer to real disks instead and recycle the contents on a handful of disks.

Interesting, but I'm afraid it is hard to sell a lot of accelerators due to the lack of software. One needs a killer app that everyone wants.

what the heck is Chameleons's d030 mode? It is using the same trigger mechanism (writing to $d030) to turn on and off the fast speed. If it works on the Chameleon it should work on the C128 as well, just not as fast. And how does it make use if the C128 2mhz? It turns on 2 MHz while the border is drawn I guess so it will be faster than on a C64. The game is a bit slow on a stock C64.
